What is an integrated enclave? (And what makes it so popular today?)

The integrated enclave is a concept in urban planning that is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. It forms a self-contained urban neighbourhood—by combining residential, social, business and commercial zones within a single enclave. Depending on the complexity of the project, an enclave could even have its own school or hospital.

We introduced Bangalore to a luxury called enclave...
Incidentally, we were the pioneers of integrated enclaves in Bangalore. We created our first enclave, Brigade Residency in Banashankari, over 15 years ago. It was a successful prototype of enclaves to come. With time, our enclaves grew in size and complexity…from simple neighbourhoods to integrated, multi-use developments. The 5-acre Brigade Residency was a pre-cursor to the benchmark-setting Brigade Gardenia and Brigade Millennium enclaves, which transformed South Bangalore. And now we are in the process of completing two even bigger enclave projects, both covering 40 acres: Brigade Metropolis and Brigade Gateway.
